Advice to Elders

Serve your congregation as shepherds, following the gentle example of Jesus the Chief Shepherd (vv. 1-4).

Qualities of an Elder

In verses 5-9, Paul writes that an elder in the church should behave like an elder outside the church, too.

Clarity

In 23:1-3, Josiah leaves nothing unclear.

National elders come together and listen to the Law.

This becomes their charge.

According to Paul, serving God should not be equivalent to working for free.

Do workers in other industries have a right to quote verses 17-18 as evidence that they’re entitled to higher pay? I’m not sure.
