Love Your Wife

In verse 7, Peter tells husbands to love their wives with great honor.

In the Same Way?

Verses 1-6 always leave me feeling uncomfortable. I’m not interested in having my wife call me her lord.

But Peter has just finished describing Jesus’ dying hours, and he is encouraging the wives of nonbelievers to live patient, submissive lives to win over their husbands.

I would have a hard time accepting this teaching, but strategically it makes sense. Living in a way that honors your spouse would make them more interested in your spiritual beliefs.
