In verses 1-4, Paul mentions that Sosthenes is a coauthor of the letter.
He gives warm greetings to the church in Corinth.

In obedience to a vision from God, we learn in verses 9-18 that Paul spends well over a year in the city of Corinth preaching the Good News.
Some of the religious leaders were angry with Paul’s message, so they attempted to have him prosecuted. When the case went poorly for them, they took out their frustrations on the synagogue ruler Sosthenes.
