Rough Beginning

According to verses 1-3, everyone starts off in a bad spiritual state.

This is a difficult message for most people to accept.

However, I believe that experience supports this view of human nature.

It’s not that everyone is all bad all the time.  That’s obviously not true.  But the claim here is that everyone naturally follows their inner voice even when that voice suggests poor behavior.

And we all know that we sometimes follow that inner voice even when we know it’s wrong.
