Happy New Year!

November 30, 2013 Leave a comment

Tomorrow marks the first day of Advent and the first day of the church calendar year.

Coincidentally, I also finished year 6 of the Nine Year Bible plan tonight, so I’ll be starting year 7 of 9 tomorrow with a study of the book of James.

It looks like I’ve done a chapter-by-chapter analysis and reading of the vast majority of the New Testament. The last three years of this sequence appear to have more topical and character studies, particularly more 1-week topics.

I’m excited that I’m coming up on the last third of this 9-year experience. So many things have changed since December 2007!

Diotrephes

November 30, 2013 Leave a comment

I wrote to the church. But Diotrephes won’t have anything to do with us. He loves to be the first in everything. So if I come, I will point out what he is doing. He is saying evil things about us to others. Even that doesn’t satisfy him. He refuses to welcome other believers. He also keeps others from welcoming them. In fact, he throws them out of the church.

Dear friend, don’t be like those who do evil. Be like those who do good. Anyone who does what is good belongs to God. Anyone who does what is evil hasn’t really seen or known God (3 John 9-11, NIrV).
