Good Friday XII

How cool to spend time reflecting here in the sanctuary!

It was great seeing Shelly set up music and other materials for reflection. And Aileen thanked me for portraying Peter with ADD at last night’s living Last Supper service.

As soon as I finish here, I’ll be shopping for tonight’s post-Good Friday Seder and week of leaven-free meals for the family. Nice to see Amy leading this heritage for Jack and Sarah.

I’m grateful that Amy is starting to get some answers for her health struggles. Prayers that she will find relief and strength from her treatments.

Debo is on some of the same medication. Grateful that he is doing better after being diagnosed with Addison’s disease.

Susan sadly has cancer. As Amy said, she’s had a long and happy life. We’ll be providing her hospice care as she continues to lose weight. For now she can still jump over the gate and hiss at Debo, so she’s doing as well as could be expected under the circumstances.

Jack continues to grow as a performer. He will need to make choices next year about where to focus. He’s getting his driver permit this August. Where has the time gone?

Sarah seems to be enjoying her new piano. We will continue to help her do those things that are hard to feel motivated to do. She is at a point similar to when I was in 6th grade. Prayers for Sarah to navigate this challenging time.

I’m so grateful to have finished my PhD dissertation defense last Wednesday. My relationships at work and church are supportive and strong. I wonder if Amy or I will join the parent group Aileen is organizing. It seems like a great idea, but we are so busy with the kids’ activities.

I do not feel particularly interested in setting annual goals right now. I’d rather reflect quietly. If I change my mind, I will write another Good Friday XII post specifically with these details.

Another year has passed. Ooooh, next Easter is April 12! If I remember correctly, this is the last time this will happen in my lifetime.

I look forward to Good Friday XIII on April 10, 2020. Wow, that sounds so futuristic!
