Love Your Enemies
If we take Matthew 5:43-48 seriously, then there is no room for hating our enemies.
Jesus makes it clear that we will have enemies.
But we are not to hate them. We should be praying for them, just like Jesus.
The Bad and the Ugly
In 2 Esdras 15, we see a very dark picture of the future of the planet.
It sounds very pessimistic, similar in tone to some very prominent public Christian voices of the past decade.
John 14
In John 14, Jesus reassures his disciples that he’ll be back, even though the world might not believe it.
Acts 2
The description of Pentecost in Acts 2 illustrates God’s desire to reach people from all over the world.
This is why everyone heard the good news in their native languages.
Egypt’s Judgment
In Ezekiel 29:1-16, we read about God’s warning to Pharaoh, King of Egypt.
Despite these harsh words, there is an ancient tradition of Coptic Christianity in Egypt.
It reminds me of Psalm 84:10b, “I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God / than dwell in the tents of the wicked.”
World Vision
All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age (Jesus’ words in Matthew 28:18-20).
This is the first passage that comes to my mind when thinking about the concept of World Vision.
